Modern Slavery Statement
Barnes Movers Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the actions taken by Barnes Movers to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Barnes Movers is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full compliance with applicable modern slavery legislation.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Barnes Movers has a clear zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and exploitation. We will not knowingly work with any organisation that engages in, or is complicit in, such practices. We expect the same high standards from all our employees, contractors, agency workers, suppliers, and business partners.
Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in the termination of business relationships or disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal, in line with our internal procedures and applicable laws.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Barnes Movers provides removal, relocation, and associated services. Our supply chains include transport and vehicle services, packaging materials, storage facilities, equipment hire, facilities management, and professional services. While the overall risk of modern slavery in our direct operations is considered low, we recognise that risks may arise within complex or multi-tiered supply chains, particularly in high-risk sectors or regions.
Policies and Governance
Our approach to preventing modern slavery is supported by internal policies including our code of conduct, recruitment and employment policies, health and safety standards, and supplier management requirements. Responsibility for overseeing this Statement and the supporting framework rests with the senior management team, who ensure that appropriate resources are allocated to implement and review our measures.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and partners who share our values and comply with modern slavery requirements. As part of our supplier due diligence, Barnes Movers:
Conducts risk-based assessments of new and existing suppliers, taking into account the nature of the services or goods provided and the geographic location.
Requires suppliers to confirm that they comply with modern slavery legislation and do not tolerate forced labour, child labour, or human trafficking in their operations or supply chains.
Reserves the right to carry out audits or request supporting documentation from suppliers, including evidence of their own modern slavery policies, training, and due diligence processes.
Expects suppliers to monitor their own supply chains, take remedial action where concerns arise, and report any significant risks or incidents to us.
Where non-compliance or serious concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to address and resolve the issue within a reasonable timeframe. If issues cannot be resolved to our satisfaction, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Raising Concerns
Barnes Movers encourages an open culture where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised through line managers, senior management, or other established internal reporting routes. Reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We seek to build awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment. Training and guidance are provided to help personnel recognise the signs of exploitation and understand how to escalate concerns appropriately.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Barnes Movers is committed to continually improving its approach to identifying, preventing, and responding to modern slavery risks. We will review this Statement and our supporting measures at least once every year, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, guidance, or the nature of our operations.
The annual review will consider the effectiveness of our due diligence, any reported incidents or concerns, feedback from stakeholders, and opportunities for strengthening our processes, training, and supplier engagement.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the senior management of Barnes Movers and will be updated annually to reflect our ongoing commitment to ethical and responsible business practices.
